About the Journal
The Journal of Religion and Media Studies (JRMS) is an international, interdisciplinary, and peer-reviewed platform dedicated to the rigorous study of the intersection between religious traditions and media technologies. In an era defined by rapid digital transformation, JRMS examines how media shapes religious expression and how faith, in turn, influences media production and consumption.
"Our mission is to foster a global dialogue that bridges theological inquiry, communication theory, and cultural studies."
Aims and Scope
JRMS welcomes original research, theoretical essays, and critical reviews that explore the relationship between religion and media. The journal covers, but is not limited to:
- Digital Religion: Online worship, social media ministries, and the "Internet of Sacred Things."
- Media Representation: Portrayals of faith, identity, and religious conflict in news, cinema, and digital platforms.
- Authority & Power: The rise of digital influencers in religious hierarchies and the democratization of sacred knowledge.
- Ethics in Technology: Moral dimensions of AI, algorithms, and data privacy from religious perspectives.
- Popular Culture: The sacred in music, gaming, fashion, and contemporary literature.
Peer Review & Integrity
To ensure the highest scholarly standards, JRMS employs a double-blind peer review process. Each submission is evaluated by independent experts to ensure originality, methodological rigor, and meaningful contribution to the academic community.
